Preperation Phase
Design Situation
Many people experience problems with organising and storing small personal items such as for example personal jewellery, chess pieces, computer flash drives, model trains or cars, or dolls and doll clothing. This can present a real problem when these items are difficult to locate. One approach to solving this problem is the use of small storage containers.
Need:
The convenient storage of personal items.
Brief:
Design and make a system that will permit the storage of small personal items.
Constraints
Manufacture location:
The design solution must be made in the ACU timber laboratory.
Construction techniques:
Traditional carcass construction techniques must be used.
Timber supplied:
1 off 600 x 140 x 12
Plywood for the base
Top/lid:
Determined by student design
Must include a laser engraved logo/image to reflect the identity of the ‘owner’ of the storage system
Additional components/materials supplied by studend
Suitable cabinet hardware and textile materials may also be used.
Component storage:
the system must permit the storage of items in separate and discrete spaces.
Finish:
Apply a suitable timber finish using appropriate materials and techniques.
